This week we’re patching Scrolls. The patch has two purposes. Firstly, we’re tweaking the balance of a few cards, to smooth over the bumps after set 7. These are pretty minor tweaks, which is nice. Set 7 still shines as one of our best sets.
Secondly, due to updated legal requirements, effective today, users can no longer purchase shards. Purchasing full account upgrades is still possible, but only via mojang.com. If you attempt to upgrade from within the game, you will be redirected to the website.
Please be aware that any existing shards will expire when the servers shut down on or after July 1st, 2016. If you have any shards on your account, be sure to use them before that time.
Per popular request, we’re disabling the ‘Quick Match’ queue, and refer both premium and demo users to Ranked Match. Also, as mentioned in the Q&A earlier we’ve reached a point where we can no longer award Minecraft capes.
If you have any questions about the update, you can usually find a dev on twitter, or in the Scrollsguide IRC.

The Strategic Angels will be defending the Braggin’ Brawl trophy this Saturday, September 5th at 4:30pm GMT.
What is the Braggin’ Brawl?
The Braggin’ Brawl is a friendly competition between Scrolls guilds. Teams of five battle against one another until only one team remains. This month’s tournament will be streamed in its entirety on The Badger Guild’s Twitch channel, cast by none other than Smogan himself.
Not in a guild? Don’t worry, this time everyone who is not in a guild will be organized into an extra “fourth team.” Head here for more information, and good luck!
Edit: The Brawl is over! Read below to find out who won.
The MINECON Open is officially over! Thanks to everyone for participating and to those who joined us in London. Read on to find out who finished at the top.
With the release of all those lovely new scrolls in Echoes, and the imminence of Minecon, we thought we should create a bit of a party atmosphere.
So, every match played from 15:30 CET on Thursday 2nd of July till 9.00 CET on Monday July 6th will award twice the usual gold, giving players a chance to claim a spot on the leaderboard, and get rich in the process! As usual, Judgement rewards will not be boosted; sorry about that.
Wait a minute, Thursday 2nd? That’s now!

After much deliberation, we’ve come to an important decision that we’d like to share: Echoes will be the last major content patch for Scrolls. We won’t be adding features or sets from now on, though we are planning to keep a close eye on game balance.
Scrolls will still be available to purchase for the time being, and our servers will run until at least July 1st, 2016. All future proceeds will go towards keeping Scrolls playable for as long as possible.
The launch of the Scrolls beta was a great success. Tens of thousands of players battled daily, and many of them remain active today. Unfortunately, the game has reached a point where it can no longer sustain continuous development.
We’ve had a great time working on Scrolls, and appreciate every last player who’s downloaded our game. Extra big thanks to the most dedicated members of our community; some of you have logged in almost every day since release and dedicated a large portion of your time to dominating the leaderboards and taking care of new players. We salute you, honourable scrolldiers.
We will do our best to answer any questions you might have on the standard channels.
Thanks for reading, everybody.
